The client created a general layout for the logo, shown below.
Working from this I created the final version in Adobe Illustrator. We worked through a few ideas for the colors and settled on a more muted look.
The next step was to decide on the orientation of the text, different iterations shown here:
Ultimately the client wanted the name near the title, and less rigidly aligned with the rest of the text. At the bottom of the cover the words were somewhat clashing with the character's shadow. Final version shown below:
