Soo I was watching Ed Edd n Eddy today while I was drawing, trying to do some quick sketches of exaggerated expressions and so forth. For the longest time I've wondered how they achieve that pulsing line look in their animation, so I wanted to gave it a shot since I'v been animating recently. Not perfect, but as far as I can tell it has to do with shifting the line weight between frames. It's one thing to try it out on a static character like this, but it must get pretty crazy working this into actual scenes in motion.
If I remember correctly Danny Antonucci, the creator of Ed Edd n Eddy, chose this style as an homage to older traditionally animated cartoons. Pretty cool. :D
